Claire B RIP

Claire Barrington

It is with great sadness and a deep sense of loss that we have learned of Claire’s sudden death. She had been with Chase Recovery since 2023 and had 15 months of abstinent recovery.

Claire got well using the Freedom Programme and the 12 steps. Both programmes require rigorous Honesty and plenty of action.

She was an active member of both CA and AA, always ready to step up and take responsibility for carrying the message through service and her own visible contagious recovery.

Claire volunteered from the get go, with an art group, breakfast club and general duties that are essential to the smooth running of our community. She became a SMART facilitator, a Sponsor, and had just started supporting the Women’s group. She had also started our enhanced volunteer “apprenticeship” programme with a view to starting part time employment in 2025.

She wasn’t too keen on IT systems like databases, but she shone in other areas like putting people at ease and her terrific homemade tiffin!

On Dec 23rd, she was happy, bubbly and healthy as she co-hosted our Christmas celebration. We will remember her for her humour, her caring ways, going above and beyond, and her belief that we can and do recover.

The top floor of No. 62 will be named as “The Barrington Suite” in her honour.

The photo shows Claire receiving her certificate on 13th December 2024, recognising her “significant contribution and acts of altruism!” at our Christmas evening which she organised. 44 people were in attendance.
